The WikiLeaks' "hactivist" group has warned Britain of a cyber war after police nabbed five of its members following attacks on financial institutions' websites.
The hactivists issued a statement online, calling on their supporters to attack the websites of the British government.
They have planned to flood the government's websites with so many requests, which would cause the websites to shut down.
The same cyber attack tactic has been used by Anonymous hacktivists to disable financial institutions' websites during the past two months.
The Anonymous launched the attacks after the British government criticized the WikiLeaks website for publishing thousands of secret US embassy cables.
Soon after the attacks, the government assigned the information security agency GovCertUK, and others to take precautions and warn the government's websites.
The Metropolitan Police arrested five members of the Anonymous last week. Following the UK and US police investigations into cyber demonstrations, the hacktivists reacted by breaking the financial institutions website down.
Until now, 40 raids have been launched on Anonymous supporters who had attacked Mastercard, Visa, PayPal and Amazon.
Anonymous has said that arresting people because of taking part in a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) is against human rights.
"This right to peacefully protest is one of the fundamental pillars of any democracy and should not be restricted in any way."
